  • COVID 19 Support Local Businesses & Organizations

  • As local businesses try to cope with the government mandates to temporarily close their doors due to the COVID-19 outbreak, there are still a few ways you can assist in helping them raise needed funds for operations and staff.

PURCHASE A GIFT CARD - By purchasing a gift cards to Lincoln Square Ravenswood businesses, you can help them with receiving immediate revenue for their operations, and you can come back to use the gift card when stores are back open.

DONATE TO A FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN - Many businesses have started GoFundMe and other fundraising accounts to help support folks in the service industry that have suddenly found themselves out of work.

  • The Friendship Center

    • If you need food: We are open during regular hours for "grab and go" groceries and meals.  We will not have our usual coffee and snacks, dining room and bathroom access are suspended.  We are also loosening our registration requirements, so anyone in need should come by for groceries, whether they have ever been in before or not.  We would especially like to extend a welcome to hourly and shift workers who are involuntarily unemployed at the moment.  No need to worry about geographic location or ID cards.

    • If you want to Volunteer: With love and appreciation, we are asking volunteers over the age of 60 to refrain from coming right now for their own safety.  We are also not accepting new volunteers at this time.  If you have volunteered with us before, and are young and healthy and comfortable volunteering, please contact alex@friendshipcenterchicago.org to arrange a time.  Please do not just show up to volunteer.  We are keeping groups down to just the size we need to execute each shift, and are taking precautions to ensure the safety of all our volunteers and clients.

    • Other Ways to help: The Friendship Center has three key needs right now - physical donations can be dropped off at 2711 W. Lawrence on Tues & Thurs from 12 to 7pm

    1. Soap - we are giving bars and bottles of soap out to clients to encourage hand washing on their part.

    2. Bags - as we are currently pre-bagging groceries for out clients, our need for bags of all kinds is greater than ever.

    3. Donations - we are expecting a surge in need, as well as a major drop-off in the summer festivals which help fund our work.  Your donation now makes a huge impact.

If you want to help: For the MANY supporters asking what we need most....we will provide a wish-list after distribution this week, as stores are only now starting to replenish supplies.
