DANK Haus
DANK Haus will be a featured building in the 2019 Open House Chicago City-Wide Event!
Built in 1927, our building is part of the Chicago Architecture Center's self guided tour of 200 architectural and historical buildings in the city. In 1967 DANK (Deutsch Amerikanischer National Kongress) purchased the building from the Three Links Association, a fraternal organization, to house our library, museum, art gallery, and language school.
Guests are welcome to come and explore multiple floors of our building full of artifacts and secret spaces, including the elaborately-decorated Schlaraffia Club (rarely open to the public). Visitors can take in an exhibit in the Scharpenberg Gallery entitled "Once Upon A Stein", peruse the museum, and enjoy the sumptuous views of the city from our rooftop terrace.
As a truly special feature, this year we will have a continuation of our indoor Oktoberfest in our Marunde Ballroom. Guests can enjoy some beer, pretzels and live entertainment from Lakeside Pride Music Ensembles Polka Band! Be sure to make DANK Haus part of your Open House Chicago tour!
