Welcome in Fall with Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce's 24th Annual Apple Fest, sponsored by Chicago Vein Institute! The festivities will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 8am - 4pm. Apple Fest is a long standing tradition in Lincoln Square bringing the community together to celebrate the beginning of fall.

 

Dozens of vendors participate in the event yearly, selling everything from candy apples to scarves and hats. Stop by and pick up a fresh baked apple pie, a bushel of apples, hot apple cider, or even an apple pizza. Bring the kids along and hang out in the Kid Zone where children's activities will occur throughout the day. Or relax in Giddings Plaza and listen to the wonderful sounds of local musicians. There's sure to be something for everyone at Apple Fest!

Let the kids enjoy all of the activities at Apple Fest this year by dropping your stroller off at the NEW Stroller Check-in, sponsored by Pickles Playroom and Bellybum Boutique!  The great staff and volunteers of these two businesses will gladly watch your stroller as you and your family roam through Lincoln Square's favorite family festival.

 

The Stroller Check-in will allow you to let the kids run around the Kids Zone Activity Area and participate in the nearly dozen activities scheduled just for them, or let them burn off some energy while dancing to some tunes at the Main Music Stage in Giddings Plaza.  Just stop by the Check-in located in the center of the festival at Giddings Plaza.

An amazingly fun opportunity to parade your special pooch in front of our special panel of judges in hope of winning great prizes and bragging rights to the Lincoln Square Pooch Hall of Fame.

 

Owners are also encouraged to participate!

 

First and Second Place Prizes will be awarded in the following categories, and also one Grand Prize:

  • Most Original
  • Best Dog/Owner Look-Alike

 

Note: Children and crowds of people will be present during this event; it is mandatory that your pooch be on a leash and well behaved.  Please use discretion at all times so the event is as much fun as possible without any incidents.

FIRST ANNUAL APPLE ART COMPETITION WINNERS ANNOUNCED

 

On Saturday, September 24, during Apple Fest,  the Reception and Exhibition for the First Annual Apple Art was held at Granville Picture Framing. The artists attending were treated to a Reception, an Awards Breakfast, and Awards Presentation. The winners included…

  • Grace Federighi; Golden Apple / Best of Show for her photographic collage “Apple Postcard”,
  • Gary Adamoski; Select Apple.1 / Core of Honor for his whimsical oil painting “Applesauce, Yes!”and
  • Daniel Cleary; Select Apple.2 / Core of Honor for his honest impressionistic oil painting “Basket of Fruit”.

Each winner received a prize filled envelope with Certificate of Congratulations and Gift Cards good For three things all artists need most… Art Supplies, Food/Groceries, and Coffee for a Year. Everyone had a great time meeting the other artists and all are looking forward to next years’ 2nd Annual Apple Art.
