SUMMARY:An die Musik a schubertiade
DESCRIPTION:Though VOX 3 has performed a good deal of German repertoire\, this concert focuses specifically on Franz Schubert\, the man who in many ways invented the art song as we have come to know it. Mellifluous with melody and proficient at the piano\, Schubert crafted literally hundreds of songs still recognized for their excellence today. Many of Schubert's song texts were taken from great literary works by the likes of Goethe\, while others were amateur efforts by friends\, elevated by sublime music. Often performed in small gatherings in the homes of friends\, these performances were intimate and spontaneous. This concert brings textual clarity and vocal beauty to readings of solos and ensembles by this great master composer.\n\n\n\nTickets $5.00 \n\nhttp://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/315004\n\n\n\nAs part of PianoForte's annual Schubertiade\, VOX 3 Collective will be performing on two related events. The women will be singing a preview performance of gender-bending songs at Sherwood Conservatory\, 1312 S. Michigan Avenue\, Chicago. The performance will be broadcast live on WFMT radio\, on Friday\, February 1 at 12:15pm. The men will perform quartets and solos centered around night on Sunday\, February 3 at the Fine Arts Building\, 410 S. Michigan Avenue\, Chicago\, time TBA.
