DESCRIPTION:Closing Reception for Field Guide to North American Happiness\n\nWith Special Musical Guest\, Material\n\n\nJoin us in the gallery Saturday\, April 9\, from 3-6pm\, for a closing reception and live music by Material.\n\nMaterial is an electronic musical duo formed in Minneapolis in 2015 by Tim Krause and Sam Molstad.  Through improvisational techniques and the use of musical machines\, the band explores new age and dystopian aesthetics both past and present\, drawing particular influence from Germany's krautrock movement of the 1970's.\n\nLISTEN: Material on BandCamp\n\nFamily friendly\, masks required\, limited capacity. FREE!\n\n\nAbout the Show\nA landscape painter\, artist Francis Zaander finds intrinsic connections between the natural and the man-made in paintings that combine a specificity of place with larger themes of belonging\, spirituality\, and reflection on where home is. His recent work follows a personal exploration of the American landscape\, from the Midwest to the West Coast and back. His first solo-exhibition in Chicago\, "Field Guide to North American Happiness" includes a selection of 25 paintings on paper and panel\, many created on site in the Olympic Peninsula between 2018 and 2021. The exhibition will be on view through April 9\, 2022. Gallery hours are Friday and Saturday\, noon - 5PM.
