Since 1956\, member countries of the European Broadcasting Union have sent their candidates to compete for the best performance. Each participating country submits an original song to be performed on live television and radio and then casts votes for the other countries' songs to determine the most popular song in the competition.\n\nThis year\, the European Song Contest takes place in Stockholm\, Sweden\, following Sweden's victory at the 2015 contest. 26 countries will participate in the final\, including Germany\, Sweden\, France\, Italy\, Spain\, and the United Kingdom.
