Property owners can find their township on the upper-right corner of their property tax bill. \n\n\n\nWorkshop details are as follows:\n\n\n\nDATE: Monday\, April 16\, 2012\n\nTIME: 6:30 P.M.\n\nWHERE: Sulzer Regional Library\, 4455 N. Lincoln\n\nCo-sponsored by 47th Ward Alderman Ameya Pawar and 47th Ward Democratic Committeeman Peter Coffey\n\n\n\nDATE: Monday\, April 23\, 2012\n\nTIME: 6:30 P.M.\n\nWHERE: Saint Luke Church (Memorial Hall)\, 1500 W. Belmont\n\nCo-sponsored by Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer and 44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney\n\n\n\nAt the April 16\, 2012 workshop\, representatives from the Assessor's Office will also help taxpayers determine if they qualify for the Long-Time Occupant exemption and assist them in completing and filing the applications. The exemption application deadline is April 18\, 2012.\n\n\n\nTo qualify for the Long-Time Occupant exemption for the taxable year 2011\, the property owner must have:\n\n\n	\n		Owned and occupied their residence from January 1\, 2001\, to January 1\, 2011\,\n	\n		A total household income of $100\,000 or less\, and\n	\n		An assessment increase for their property that was significant enough to exceed the maximum amounts set by the state legislature.\n\nTaxpayers are asked to bring a copy of their most recent property tax bill\, their 2010 Federal 1040 Income Tax form (if applying for the Long-Time Occupant exemption)\, and a valid state-issued ID. \n\n\n\n"Properties in Chicago are being reassessed by the Assessor's Office this year\, and if someone thinks their assessment is too high\, I encourage them to appeal it\," said Commissioner Fritchey. "These workshops will help them in that process."\n\n\n\nThe workshops are part of an ongoing series of workshops sponsored by Commissioner Fritchey to assist 12th District constituents who want to appeal their property taxes.
