SUMMARY:Lillstreet Art Center Creative Retreat: Asian Ink Painting
DESCRIPTION:Take a day off from the hustle and bustle of city living with Lillstreet! Our one-day retreats offer you the chance to relax and renew as you immerse yourself in the creative process. Each retreat will be a unique combination of a 75-minute yoga class (for all levels)\, healthy catered lunch and three-hours of hands-on art instruction. Everyone will leave the retreat with handmade artwork!\n\n	 \n\n	Yoga class will be taught by Bloom Yoga  instructors in a hatha/gentle vinyasa style with appropriate modifications offered for students of all levels. Class will focus on connecting breath and movement in a conscious way to prime the body and mind for a creative afternoon. Each art workshop will be instructed by an accomplished Lillstreet teaching artist.\n\n	 \n\n	During this retreat\, you will learn the traditional art of Japanese sumi-e ink painting and the symbolism behind it. Experiment with basic sumi-e brush strokes and create small paintings\, then take your new brush stroke skills and apply them to silk to create your own colorful hand-painted silk scarf.\n\n	 \n\n	In this workshop you will:\n\n	~ learn the basic sumi-e brush strokes\n\n	~ experiment with mark making\n\n	~ learn about color theory\n\n	~ create small ink paintings\n\n	~ let your mind wander\n\n	~ have fun\n\n	~ experiment with various painting techniques on silk\n\n	~ take home a hand painted silk scarf ($10 materials fee to purchase silk scarf)\n\n	 \n\n	Skill Level: No experience necessary\n\n	\n\n	* Please note that Lillstreet Loft is only accessible by stairs.
