SUMMARY:Opening Reception of “Black Forest Peace Symphony”
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Opening Reception of "Black Forest Peace Symphony" by Beate Axmann.\n\n\n\nInternational contemporary artist Da Huang Zhoh is featured speaker and will introduce Beate Axmann and welcome her to Chicago. Axmann will be present to answer questions and interact with the gallery guests.\n\n\n\nBeate Axmann is a contemporary artist from Germany. Her current body of work\, entitled "Black Forest Peace Symphony" will be on display at the Scharpenberg Gallery for the month of February.\n\n\n\nAxmann offers up a large collection of figurative and abstract work that is rich in its content as well as in its artistic expression. Axmann merges tradition\, nation\, and common cultural tropes to produce a modern exhibit presenting her own personal connection and perspective of the Black Forest Region. The exhibit hearkens back to a time of open borders and "Wilkommenkultur" (welcoming culture) that met new refugees in Germany. The series is a symphony of drawings and paintings\, which is many-voiced and complex and dedicated to her homeland\, the Black Forest.\n\n\n\nAdmission is free and open to the public. Beverages will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go to future funding of the DANK Haus German American Cultural Center. Parking is available at MB Financial Bank located at the corner of Western and Gunnison.
