SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Sichtverrückt.Lost and Found
DESCRIPTION:German artist Beate Axmann's concept "Sicht.Verr ckt" translates roughly to gaze\, shifted. It is a directive to look not once\, not twice\, but thrice\, even four times. In today's atmosphere of rising extremism and polemics (in Germany and abroad)\, it is critical to shift one's gaze to look at issues from multiple angles. Sichtverr ckt is the overarching theme that Beate Axmann has used for the whole of her artistic work since 2018.\n\nAxmann is from the Black Forest region of Germany and works in acrylic paint on canvas\, paper\, and wood as well as ink on paper. Her subjects include people (especially women)\, nature\, the Black Forest\, and the continuum of human cultures that she greets on her travels. Collaboration and cooperation with others are centrally important to Axmann.\n\nAxmann's show will run through May 20\, and will include public programs such as:\n\n\n	Panel discussion with Joanna Pinsky of Art Encounter\n	2 live performances in which Axmann will create collaborative paintings with Joanna Pinsky and Sergio Gomez\n	All-ages art workshops (which Axmann will lead\, speaking German!) in which you will create 1 or 2 experimental collages\n\n\nContinue to check dankhaus.com/art and our Facebook events for event details.
