DESCRIPTION:Ms. Baker is showing several of her paintings in this exhibit as well as a special one-night only musical performance.\n\n\n\nRenee' Baker- violinist/violist\, composer\, leader\, painter\, poet\, cultural creative\n\n\n\nShe has created eclectic chamber festivals for Adler Planetarium\, Shedd Aquarium\, Norris Cultural Arts Center and Classical Symphony Hall. As a composer\, Ms. Baker has composed numerous compositions ranging from string quartets to larger ensembles.\n\n\n\nRenee' Baker's official entr e into the creative music arena came through invitation to join Nicole Mitchell's Black Earth Strings. Other creative music and jazz affiliations have include Nicole Mitchell's Black Earth Orchestra\, David Boykin Expanse\, Orbert Davis w/Strings Attached\, Doug Carn\, Karl Siegfried's Galaxy String Quartet\, Great Black Music Ensemble (AACM)\, Chicago Jazz Philharmonic\, and Chicago Jazz Orchestra.\n\nThe German American Cultural Center (DANK Haus) presents Kulturbr cke\, a cultural bridge of poets\, painters\, dancers\, and sculptors from both Germany and the United States.\n\n\n\nCurated by Piotr Wolodkowicz and Marianne Buchwald of International Art Group Chicago\, the exhibit at the Scharpenberg Gallery at the DANK Haus will feature a broad range of works with an intention to deepen cross-cultural ties. The curators will match up artists of similar sensibility to express the commonality of artists from varying backgrounds.\n\n\n\nThere will be a series of events that will entertain and stimulate thinking about how two cultures can create a dialog about what matters in the world of art. The events will be in German and English.\n\n\n\nAdmission is FREE and open to the public\n\nFree parking provided through the generous support of MB FINANCIAL
