SUMMARY:Sommercamp - Bilingual German Camp
DESCRIPTION:Enroll your children in a 2 week Summer camp designed to provide an introduction to German language and culture with an emphasis on fun!\n\nProgram is for children between 4-10 years old.\n\nPrevious German experience is not required and program is fully bilingual.\n \n\nDeutschlandreise    Traveling through the 16 states of Germany in 2 weeks is the theme of this year's Sommer Camp at the Dank Haus. Children from age 4   10 explore Monday through Fridays from August 11th to August 22nd from 9am to 2pm language and culture fun through hands on activities. Making our own Bretzeln on Bavaria Day\, enjoying water fun and games on Hamburg Day or a field trip to the Berlin Wall on Berlin Day are just a few of the activities that we have planned for August.\n\n \n\nA typical day at the Sommer camp looks like this:\n\n9am:            fun morning routine reading books\, singing songs\, playing games and introducing the topics of the day. \n\n10 am:             the children will split up in two groups of children age 4 to 6 and age 7 to 10. During this segment the young travelers will learn about the states of the day and work on age appropriate activities and projects.\n\n11:30:             lunch time.\n\n12pm:            returning to groups\, finishing up morning projects\n\n1pm:            Passport time: Children reflect on the information they have received during the day\n\n1:30:             free play\n\n \n\nInstructors are recent\, native transplants\, child to instructor ratio held 1:12. \n\n \n\nThe Sommercamp is held August 11 through 22\, 2014. Daily 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.\n\n \n\nConvenient drop off and pick up zone in front of Center.  The Office and Classrooms are on the 3rd floor of the DANK Haus German American Cultural Center. The building is elevator equipped.  Lunch is not provided by Center.\n \n\n\n	German is the most widely spoken language of the EU - with 90 million people speaking German as their first language.\n	Germany is one of four primary trading partners of the United States\, which has the largest concentration of German speakers outside of Europe.\n	Knowledge of German language and culture is personally rewarding and improves travel and employment opportunities\n	Preserving German culture and language enriches families and communities.\n\n \n\nFACULTY & STAFF\n\nOur committed faculty members are diverse in their educational background and life experiences\, well qualified and highly motivated. Many hold Masters in German and all receive continuing education through the American Association of Teachers of German and ZfA Schulmanagement weltweit.
