SUMMARY:Virtual Event - Saved From Rust: The American Love Affair with the Volkswagen Bus
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Event - Saved From Rust: The American Love Affair with the Volkswagen Bus\n\nHow was this 1967 Volkswagen saved from a rusty fate? In our live\, virtual presentation\, Chicago-based VW owner Andy Pierce will show photos of the start-to-finish restoration of his prized minibus. Not only that he'll also show original letters\, photos\, and service records from the bus's 1960s origins. Hear the story of how the original owner bought it as a tourist car order. Through the lens of this 1967 vehicle\, we'll explore the American fascination with the iconic VW buses and the arrangement wherein Americans with Wanderlust pre-ordered a VW\, flew to West Germany to pick it up\, then road-tripped in Europe before shipping their new toy back to the U.S. Other speakers will contribute their experience and historical knowledge to give context to this topic. The event will be held on Zoom and there will be time for an interactive Q&A.\n\nEvent speakers:\n\n\n	Andy Pierce whose Instagram @67campmobile visually narrates his campmobile's restoration and will debut the finished product. Andy will also share stories from his and his wife's travels with the VW and Dodge of the same year.\n	Oliver Earl Oliver owns Eastcoast Autowerks in Highpoint\, NC\, and oversaw the restoration of Andy's 1967 VW. Oliver's team fully documented the restoration in photos and will share stories from the project.\n	Shelby Cole whose family fleet of VWs includes a 1971 Westfalia\, a 1968 double-cab\, and a 1985 Westfalia Vanagon. Shelby will share her love of VWs and some of her experience learning to repair these antique vehicles.\n	Josh Andersen mechanic and entrepreneur with 15 years of experience problem-solving in the world of VWs. Josh introduced the BlazeCut technology to the US market.\n\n\nRegistration is required for this virtual event taking place online!
