An Altered Book is a one-of-a-kind creative expression that cannot be replicated. Altered Books are made by transforming previously-loved
literature into newly sculptural works of self-expression. Participants will learn to create original stories and/or poems through the altering of text and the addition of paint, photographs, pockets, windows, niches and more. Each student will be provided with two books, one for demonstrating sample techniques and one for
creative use after the workshop.
**Most necessary materials will be supplied. Participants are asked to
bring a glue stick, scissors and/or an X-acto knife, as well as
photocopies (B&W or color) of old photographs, favorite quotes, found
objects, paper ephemera, brads, buttons, thread & needle, or any
"extras" that you might want to add to your book pages!
