In this unique collaboration, the Ravenswood Community Orchestra teams up with another neighborhood group, bluegrass ensemble Tangleweed, and special guests to present an evening of iconic American music. Local Flutist Erin K. Murphy joins the orchestra for a performance of Renascence by the award-winning Chicago-based composer Lita Grier. Soprano Karen Schriescheim from London will sing Samuel Barber's classic Knoxville, Summer of 1915.
Tangleweed and the RCO will premiere Meditation by composer Kelsey Green, and the concert will conclude with a special performance of Rodeo by the great American composer Aaron Copland. The orchestra will play all four movements of Copland's original ballet suite, with Tangeweed performing standard bluegrass tunes in-between. If you're wondering what America sounds like, this is the place to find out!
