    Position Title:  Marketing & Office Assistant (full-time: 12 months/year, 40hrs/week)

    About the School
    The German International School Chicago (GISC) is a private, nonprofit, bilingual IB World School, authorized by the International  Baccalaureate Organization and accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS). GISC opened its doors in 2009 and is now offering classes for students from Preschool through Grade 8. With a projected student enrollment of 190 students for the 2023-2024 school year, GISC currently is building out its middle school enrollment, and eventually intends to grow through the completion of high school. 

    GISC's curriculum is taught mainly in German with an intercultural approach. GISC welcomes students of all backgrounds and nationalities. Students learn in a supportive and individualized environment that nurtures curiosity and creativity while fostering global awareness. GISC students – fluent in German and English – will become well-rounded, creative, and responsible global citizens.

    Job Summary
    GISC is seeking a smart, dynamic, and detail-oriented professional to support GISC’s Admin Team. This person will develop a strong understanding of GISC, its mission, philosophy, values, and goals, and provide support to various departments of the school. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about expanding their knowledge, learning new skills, and working closely with others. Duties of the Marketing & Office Assistant include providing support to the Admin Team, assisting with the school’s marketing, HR, and finance tasks, as well as assisting with and managing other daily office needs and general administrative activities, including event planning and execution. This position offers opportunities for career growth. 

    Essential Job Functions 
    ● Provide support to the Admin Team (Marketing, Finance, HR, Admissions, Development, Education,  Operations/Facilities, and After School Programs) with a focus on Marketing and HR/Finance
    ● Social media posts
    ● Curate photos
    ● Update website and other online listings
    ● Assist with and prepare weekly newsletters and school wide communications
    ● Assist with marketing activities including newsletters, event & print materials, ads, merch,
    press releases, and other communications
    ● Assist with reviewing analytical data
    ● Work with faculty/staff members and volunteers to help plan, coordinate, and execute school
    events
    ● Organize and schedule appointments
    ● Plan meetings and take detailed minutes
    ● Add and update information and other data within GISC’s databases
    ● Enter, record, and review data to assist the Finance Department with general accounting
    tasks (receivables/payables, deposits, reconcile accounts, tuition billing)
    ● Maintain filing system
    ● Execute administrative and other office tasks as needed by the Director of Marketing,
    Director of Finance & Administration, and Head of School

    Specific Qualifications/Skills/Experience
    ● Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
    ● Excellent verbal and written communications skills in German and English (bilingual
    German-English preferred)
    ● Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant work experience preferred
    ● MS Office, Google Suite, QuickBooks, and database experience preferred
    ● Precision and attention to detail
    ● Flexibility, adaptability, confidentiality, and reliability
    ● Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize
    ● Enthusiastic about teamwork

    Work Environment
    This position operates in an office environment that is accessible. Some work at off-site locations may be required, and those may not necessarily be fully accessible. This role is not suited for remote work. It routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones,
    photocopiers, scanners, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently climb stairs, lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. This position normally requires attendance from 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday with occasional after business and weekend hours to participate in school-wide meetings and events. This workplace is a smoke- and drug-free environment.

    Compensation: Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience
