    About the School
    The German International School Chicago (GISC) is a private, nonprofit, bilingual IB World School, authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization and accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS). GISC opened its doors in 2009 and is now offering classes for students from Preschool through Grade 8. With a projected student enrollment of 190 students for the 2023-2024 school year, GISC currently is building out its middle school enrollment, and eventually intends to grow through the completion of high school.

    GISC's curriculum is taught mainly in German with an intercultural approach. GISC welcomes students of all backgrounds and nationalities. Students learn in a supportive and individualized environment that nurtures curiosity and creativity while fostering global awareness. GISC
    students – fluent in German and English – will become well-rounded, creative, and responsible global citizens.

    Job Summary
    GISC is seeking an enthusiastic, committed, and professional German Language Arts Teacher who provides instruction to students in Grades 5 and 6. 

    Minimum Qualifications
    ● Certified Teacher for native-level German Language Arts
    ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German
    ● IB experience, especially MYP experience, preferred

    Essential Job Functions
    ● Plan, initiate, and guide the study of units of study in German, which involves speaking, listening, reading, and writing
    ● Provide appropriate instruction to the students, applying innovative teaching methods informed by current research
    ● Assess student learning and progress, correct papers, keep records, write reports, and provide feedback
    ● Attend All-Staff and IB Meetings and collaborate with other educators

    Work Authorization: Candidate must be authorized to work in the US
    Compensation: Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience
