    Lawrence Hall is committed to keeping our youth and families, employees and communities safe. Therefore, we are requiring that all applicants have at least 1 dose of the COVID vaccine to qualify for hire, with the 2nd dose required 45 days after hire.

    Reports to the Vice President of Educational Services. Works with small groups of students within a self-contained classroom or departmentalized structure, striving for the improvement of classroom performance. Implements evidence-based instruction designed to improve student achievement. Implements a therapeutic individual educational program (IEP) for assigned students. Participates in staff meetings and conferences related to the position. Must be able to effectively use verbal intervention skills with individuals five (5) through twenty-one (21) years of age.


    • Uphold agency policies and abide by rules and regulations found in the Educational Staff Handbook
    • Engage students by planning, preparing and implementing evidence based and coherent instruction
    • Assess student's academic and social emotional progress on a regular basis using summative and formative assessments.
    • Maintain the classroom environment by establishing a culture of learning and managing student behavior by utilizing the Behavior Support Techniques outlined in TCI
    • Utilize strategies that support healing, recovery, and that resist re-traumatization
    • Engage caregivers, parents, family members and other stakeholders in a professional and therapeutic manner
    • Maintain records, write reports, and keep accountable for classroom progress.
    • Participate in weekly education staff meetings, department meetings and individual conferences as designated
    • Participate in agency/educational seminars and in-service programs as designated by administration
    • Proactively works with peers, administration and other stakeholders to prevent escalation of student behavior
    • Maintain confidentiality of employees, volunteers, and program participants to provide a safe environment
    • Ability to work effectively with program participants and family members, employees and vendors in a culturally diverse environment to support healing and recovery
    • Other duties as assigned


    • Requires a Substitute Teaching License from the State of Illinois or a reciprocal state
    • No history of child abuse or neglect
    • Ability to pass background and drug screen

    Additional Benefits/Perks

    Lawrence Hall will be providing stipends to any employee who is approved to transport youth in their own vehicle as part of their duties. The stipend will be $150/month.

    We will also be providing a $75/month stipend to those who do not transport youth.

    A $10/month wellness stipend will be provided to those employees who provide proof of their gym membership or payment for a fitness app.

    This position meets the FLSA requirements for Exempt.
