Diners are a huge part of Chicago’s history. Not necessarily because of high profiles or for revolutionizing breakfast. We love these places for their dedication to fueling their neighborhoods with whatever can be made on a stove, fast. Some are greasy spoons with sticky 10-page menus and vinyl booths that have witnessed more local history than most streets. Others are standout mainstays that prove with bulgogi or churro french toast that a classic breakfast is whatever you want to call it.
