• Meet The Bread-Baking Couple Whose Bagels And Black Rye Are Farmers Market Hits

Taylor Bruns put in an order for her husband, Brian, to make a few bagels for their Logan Square barbecue restaurant, Flat & Point, 3524 W. Fullerton Ave., which they opened in 2019. The bagels quickly sold out, Taylor Bruns said.

The West Town couple started selling their bagels and breads at local farmers markets in the spring of 2022. Within a few weeks, they went from making 300 bagels to 3,000 in six varieties: everything, sesame, Old Bay, plain, pretzel and marble rye.

In October 2022, the couple relaunched their restaurant as Dorothy’s Bistro. “We believe this name better embodies the true heart and soul of our restaurant, and our future bakery,” they wrote on the restaurant’s website.

The Brunses closed the restaurant last January, but they haven’t stopped making bagels or planning their future bakery. Read more HERE
