"Twelfth Annual" Friends of the Grape Wine Festival
WHAT: To kick off the "Twelfth Annual" Friends of the Grape Wine Festival, St. Matthias school children are "stomping" for a great cause. Six lucky school children will stomp grapes, just like Lucy and Ethel did, to kick off the Wine Festival events. Six lucky raffle winners from St. Matthias School will participate in a Grand Cru Grape Stomp Off! Stompers will be judged 80% on amount of juice and 20% on stomping style. Stompers will receive 50 pounds of grapes and two minutes to stomp to music. The Stomp-off winner will get a week's supply of grape juice, and the title of "Juice King or Queen."

Make sure to bring your appetites and dancing shoes as St. Matthias hosts this "mini-taste" of Lincoln Square. Those attending will be treated to appetizers, delights and wine pairings from 20 local restaurants as well as other "friends of the grape". You will have an opportunity to sample and taste more than 40 different "lots" of wines. The festival will also feature a beer garden with live entertainment featuring Plymouth Court, Spencer Brown Trio and Mile 96.
Spend the afternoon browsing amongst the more than the 150 silent auction items, most of which are non-wine related. Beginning at 3:00 p.m., don't miss our live auction with professional auctioneer David Goodman, filled with twelve, "One of a Kind" live auction items. Bid on a chance to win an exceptional Wine and Dinner Stroll through Lincoln Square, including local radio personality poetry readings at each stop, the best of the North shore private golf courses, food catered by Austrian celebrity chef Martin Wallner, a New England Lobster bake at your house for 20 with a celebrity chef from Boston's Legal Seafood, dinner for four at the all-new critically acclaimed Chicago Cut Steakhouse, trips to Paris at Le Cordon Bleu and the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona.
