Radishes, not just for Oktoberfest……….
While radishes have roots beyond Southern Germany, Oktoberfest has inspired many to try white German “Bier-rettich”.
Ron Eberle grew up in Lincoln Square and attended St. Matthias School. Son of a German immigrant from Bavaria. He was first introduced to spiraled white radishes by his Opa during visits to America in the 1970s. Since that first introduction in the backyard of his childhood home on Hamilton Street, Ron has shared his family’s recipe for preparing white radishes with many friends, always to the same delight and surprise. Come learn how to make this salad garnish the main event for a refreshing snack with a beer and pretzel.
