Part-Time Accountant (Hybrid 12–15 Hours/Week)

We’re looking for a highly experienced, self-directed Part-Time Accountant to support our accounting, payroll coordination, tax compliance, and financial reporting with care, accuracy, and independence. This role is ideal for someone seeking flexible hours while continuing to do meaningful, high-quality accounting work. This is a hybrid position based in Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting in QuickBooks (bank/credit card reconciliations, AP)
• Prepare monthly financial statements and year-end items (journal entries, 1099s, W-2s)
• Create annual forecasts and holiday sales tracking
• Coordinate payroll and HR-related accounting through ADP (payroll, PTO, benefits, 401(k))
• Support sales tax filings (Avalara, Shopify, multi-state)
• Manage annual health insurance enrollment
• Partner with the Owner and external accountants on raises, bonuses, and tax filings

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally with small businesses
• Highly organized and detail-oriented. Comfortable working independently and managing tasks and meeting deadlines. 
• Retail and/or eCommerce accounting experience preferred
• Experience with payroll systems (ADP preferred)
• Strong QuickBooks Online, Excel and Google Sheets experience
• Experience with sales tax and multi-state compliance a plus
