The traditional Chicago-style hot dog, an iconic dish, comes “dragged through the garden,” but there are always new purveyors ready to shake things up with gourmet sausages and inventive toppings. The only rule is that ketchup is reserved exclusively for fries and young children who don’t know any better. Many of the best hot dog stands have been around for decades — several serve terrific burgers as well — and they’re located all across the city.
