Lincoln Square Car-Free Zone Delighted Neighbors, Disrupted Businesses: Survey

LINCOLN SQUARE — The heart of Lincoln Square’s construction-mandated experiment in car-free living delighted some neighbors, disrupted local businesses and helped the community obtain useful insights into how pedestrian-only streets impact the community.
The 4700 block of North Lincoln Avenue was car-free between April 21 and May 12 as part of construction to upgrade the Western Avenue Brown Line station, a nearby public plaza and parking lot.
The car-free zone was originally slated to last one week, but a decades-old brick electrical vault at the intersection of Leland and Lincoln avenues required emergency repairs, extending the closure, Josh Mark, Ald. Matt Martin’s (47th) chief of staff, previously said. Read More Here.
