LILLSTREET ART CENTER PRESENTS 35th ANNIVERSARY HOLIDAY SHOW & SALE
Chicago, IL, November 8, 2010
Lillstreet Art Center celebrates its 35th Holiday Show & Sale the weekend of December 3rd and 4th. On the 3rd from 6-9pm, celebrate with Lillstreet, as it opens its doors for a Holiday Party with live music, appetizers, drinks, and fantastic art. On the 4th from 12-5pm, take free workshops and observe demonstrations during the Holiday Open House.
Since opening in 1975, Lillstreet has hosted a Holiday Show & Sale every year, completely free and open to the public. Showcasing more than 40 ceramic, jewelry, and textile artists, this sale will be an opportunity to buy one-of-a-kind holiday gifts from independent artists. Visit the shop where journals, toys, art supplies, books, and much more are available for any art enthusiast. Lillstreet also offers the gift of creativity certificate good for all levels of art classes. After leaving the gallery, stroll the second floor to meet over 50 artists creating and selling beautiful handmade work right from their studios.
Originally Lillstreet Art Center began in a renovated horse barn in Lincoln Park and has been offering art classes for adults and children in Chicago since 1975. Seven years ago the center relocated to the heart of Ravenswood and is now the biggest art center in the Midwest. Eight departments fill the three-story building with classes in ceramics, painting and drawing, metalsmithing (jewelry), digital arts, textiles, glass, and printmaking, all taught by well-established, supportive artists. Children's art classes are available all year long with weeklong camps during the summer. Private and group studios line the second floor with over 50 artists. Lillstreet?s community-oriented, non-academic, and welcoming creative environment is the perfect place to nurture the artist in everyone. Stop by the cafe inside, First Slice, and enjoy delicious food, with all proceeds donated to aiding homeless youth.
